About/History

The Land Park Harlequins were founded in 2015 when Olivia Popp, who had played for two consecutive years for the boys Motley team decided Land Park needed a girls team. With the help of her family, Motley coach Matt Eason and former Bowling Green and Motley coach, Naki Hopoi, she founded the first middle school and high school girls rugby team in Land Park. We are the sister club of the Land Park Motley. Our girls live in Midtown, Land Park, East Sacramento, Greenhaven and Oak Park and attend Burbank, CK McClatchy, Christian Brothers, St. Francis, Kennedy and Sacramento High School. We also have a MS team, so if you are a middle school girl and interested in rugby, please come out!

We are a recreational team that also operates as a travel/club squad for those who want to compete at a higher level. We have travelled to Oregon, Southern California, Nevada, Indiana, Washington and Utah. When we travel, we are playing the best teams in the Nation and abroad, we are currently ranked  4th in the United States in only two years of existence!
